Prof Dr med Sven Wellmann, MBA
Prof Wellmann is an expert in pediatrics and neonatal medicine. He holds an MBA in Medical Management. His research addresses the first 1000 days of life, from conception until the second birthday. He believes that early lifetime nutrition and nurture largely determine how genetic makeup interacts with other multiple factors to affect health, resilience, and a range of further crucial lifetime outcomes. His research group works on the fetal and neonatal stress response of the circulatory system and the developing brain. They aim to improve neurodevelopment, especially in infants whose early life is compromised by brain damage. He believes that the complex interaction between perception and cognition in early life presents an important starting point for various interventions involving caregivers and parents in the optimization of long-term outcomes.
